Transactions in the last 9 days
Looking at the Red Sox’s transactions in the last nine days, I was stunned to find out how many pitchers we had let go and how many were on the DL.
According to redsox.com, here’s the last nine days:
We have put 4 players designated for assignment, 3 pitchers: Smotlz, Gonzalez, Traber and, 1 short stop, Velazquez.
We have put 3 players on the disabled list: Kottaras, Lowrie, Baldelli
We got 1 new player: SS Chris Woodward from the Seattle Mariners.
We called up 3 pitchers: Traber, Cabrera, Gonzalez. (Traber and Gonzalez no longer with Red Sox)
Lost by 2 runs, again
This is a very frustrating loss. We came into Tampa hoping to take a win since the big ALCS loss last fall. And yet, we’re leaving Tampa with a lost series and having to take on our rivals the Yankees tomorrow.
The Red Sox lost 4-6 to the Rays. There were no 13 innings like last night, but there also wasn’t a bottom of the ninth either, because the Rays had already won.
Penny didn’t give up a run in the 1st, but gave up 2 in the second inning. We also got a run in the second inning, by JASON BAY! He got a solo homer, his 21st of the year, Hopefully this is the turn around for Bay! Then in the sixth inning, our newbie Martinez got his first homer for the Red Sox. Pedroia and Baldelli also touched home base for the Red Sox. Jason Varitek, Jacoby Ellsbury, Kevin Youkilis and Victor Martinez also all got doubles.
In the end, Penny gave up 5 runs, and Delcarmen gave up 1. The pitching didn’t do its job tonight.
And so, now we are 2-13 at Tropicana Field. Ouch. I’m glad were getting out of Tampa. Let’s hope the Bronx serves us better.
28 Runs in Total, 18 were Red Sox runs
The game lasted 3 hours and 50 minutes.
Together, the Orioles and the Red Sox scored 28 runs.
Red Sox scored 18.
Orioles scored 10.
WE WON! And we also won the series against the Orioles.
I
think us Sox fans feel a lot better about the play-offs, especially
because we’re half a game behind the Yankees. ( who we’re playing
Friday!)
Who, individually scored the most runs? Let’s see:
Jacoby Ellsbury- 4 runs
Dustin Pedroia- 4 runs
Adam Jones (BAL)- 3 runs
Kevin Youkilis- 2 runs
Rocco Baldelli- 2 runs
Josh Reddick- 2 runs
Felix Pie (BAL)- 2 runs
